What is Business Tourism ? Explain the category of Business Tourism? And the benefits for the Business Tourism|

The definition that best applies to Business Tourism is the one that contemplates a set of tourist currents, whose reason for traveling is linked to carrying out work and professional activities. In that sense, it is a more limited and focused subgroup than regular tourism, because the person or group of people has to move to another city or country for some business interest.

Some definitions of tourism tend to exclude business travel. However, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) defines tourists as people “traveling to and staying in places other than their usual environment, for no more than one consecutive year, for leisure, business or other reasons”.

Due to the number of people involved, Business Tourism can be: individual or group. Instead, the type of activity carried out by business tourists can be divided into primary and secondary activities. Let's detail it!

The primary activities are related to business (work), and include tasks such as: consultations, inspections and assisted meetings. In contrast, secondary activities are related to tourism (leisure), and include activities such as: dining out, recreation, shopping, visiting places, meeting others for leisure activities, etc.

In other countries, Meetings Tourism is known as "MICE Tourism" (for its acronym in English Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions. In particular, the UNWTO classifies Meetings Tourism according to 5 categories:

At present, the meeting tourism industry has reached a stage of maturity as it is one of the main engines of development in this sector, since it generates synergy for those involved: on the one hand, destinations are revitalized, jobs are generated and investment and income is increased, since people travel in any season of the year, be it high or low; on the other hand, for groups of people who travel, creativity and innovation are enhanced and the exchange and dissemination of knowledge is promoted. That is why companies organize business events in destinations outside the daily work environment.

In Mexico, it used to be called business tourism, however, it was transformed into meeting

tourism, considering that this concept encompasses the different activities that are related to it. Meeting tourism, also known as MICE Tourism for its acronym in English: Meetings Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions; is classified by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), in five categories, below we present each one and explain the benefits they bring to your company:
